The Financial Audit Authority (FAA) in Dubai has announced the third edition of its Foreseeing Government Audit Future Conference, set to take place on October 28 and 29 under the theme "Smart Audit."

The event will bring together officials, experts and specialists in audit, oversight and governance to exchange knowledge and examine how the profession is changing. The conference arrives as advances in artificial intelligence, growing cyber risks and emerging technologies reshape the audit landscape, alongside shifting demands in governance, performance and sustainability.

Abdulrahman Al Hareb, Director General of the FAA, said governments are transforming at an unprecedented pace and that the nature of risk is changing with them.

"The future of government audit lies in the ability to keep pace with and anticipate these shifts, while leveraging technology and specialised expertise to strengthen integrity, safeguard public funds and support the efficiency and effectiveness of government performance,"

he said.

Artificial intelligence will anchor the programme, with sessions on cyber financial auditing, risks and governance of emerging technologies, AI use cases in internal audit and auditing AI itself. Other discussions will cover strategic planning and innovation within internal audit, the impact of tax laws on private companies and the FAA's own data science journey.

The first day, October 28, is a preparatory day with workshops on government entities' financial closing and reporting practices and on challenges in external auditing and audit quality. It will also include sessions with internal audit directors from government and non-government sectors.

The FAA said the conference will also stress the need to invest in auditors' skills, particularly in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technologies and risk and performance analysis. By bringing local and international expertise together, the authority aims to build a more integrated, future-ready audit ecosystem that strengthens trust, accountability and integrity.
