Dubai Future District Fund Backs Nordstar Partners to Close Scale-Up Funding Gap

Dubai Future District Fund has committed capital to a global growth fund run by Nordstar Partners, a UK investment manager focused on AI, fintech and consumer technology.

The move targets one of the region's most persistent funding gaps, the stretch between Series A and Series C where companies must turn early momentum into lasting scale.

Nordstar is led by Managing Partners Eugen Miropolski and Ole Ruch, both of whom built their careers in senior operating roles at Groupan, Airbnb and WeWork. Their backgrounds span hyper-growth management, international expansion and the operational strain that comes with rapid corporate change, giving them firsthand insight into the challenges facing their portfolio founders.

Nader Albastaki, Managing Director of DFDF, said the scale-up gap cannot be solved through funding alone. He noted that Series B founders often need guidance from people who have already built what they are attempting to build, and pointed to Miropolski and Ruch's experience running international expansion as the basis for practical rather than theoretical support. He added that the commitment aligns with DFDF's D33 mandate and gives regional founders access to a type of operating expertise rarely available at this stage.

Ruch said Nordstar was founded after repeated encounters with strong founders who could benefit from shared lessons, both successes and setbacks. He said the DFDF partnership strengthens Nordstar's presence in a region producing companies ready for international growth.

Nordstar already holds investments in Middle East ventures including Kitopi and Silkhaus. Through the new collaboration, the firm will extend its operator network and market-entry expertise to UAE-based companies expanding abroad, with DFDF framing mentorship and knowledge transfer as central to the partnership rather than a secondary benefit.
