Dubai has reaffirmed its growing influence in advanced biomedical science with the opening of the fourth Dubai Stem Cell Congress, bringing together more than 500 healthcare professionals and 26 leading international experts to explore the future of stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
The two-day congress, which began today at the Mövenpick Grand Al Bustan Hotel, is organised by the First Stem Cell and Genomics Laboratory with the support of the Dubai Health Authority. It serves as a global platform for researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders to exchange insights on cutting-edge scientific developments and emerging therapeutic technologies.
In her opening address, Dr. Fatma Al Hashimi, Congress Chairperson and CEO of the First Stem Cell and Genomics Laboratory, described the event as a collaborative journey that transcends borders and disciplines to help shape the next era of regenerative medicine.
She noted that this year’s programme features speakers from major research and clinical centres across Europe, North America, East Asia, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, reflecting the congress’s expanding international reach.
The scientific agenda focuses on recent breakthroughs in stem cell therapy, new directions in regenerative medicine, and the growing role of research in developing future treatments. Dr. Al Hashimi highlighted that stem cell therapies are increasingly viewed as promising options for conditions that currently lack effective cures.
On the sidelines of the congress, two strategic memoranda of understanding were signed. One establishes collaboration between the First Stem Cell and Genomics Laboratory and the Molecular Biology & Genomics Center to strengthen advanced laboratory services in Dubai. The second, with TCURX, supports joint research and translational innovation in stem cell technologies.
The programme also includes five specialised workshops and a dedicated awareness session, with participants eligible for 14 Dubai Health Authority-accredited continuing medical education credit hours.
