Dubai International Chamber, part of Dubai Chambers, has successfully wrapped up its trade mission to Tanzania, highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Dar es Salaam.
The MoU, signed with the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, aims to bolster trade and investment between the two regions. This agreement includes organizing future trade missions, conferences, and business events, alongside the exchange of expertise and information.
During the mission, Dubai International Chamber facilitated 408 business meetings between Dubai and Tanzanian companies, fostering new partnerships and opportunities. The chamber also hosted a business forum titled ‘Doing Business with Tanzania,’ supported by several key Tanzanian institutions and the UAE’s Embassy in Tanzania. The forum attracted 461 participants, including senior officials, business leaders, and Tanzanian companies exploring collaboration with Dubai’s delegation.
H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized the significance of the mission, stating,
“This trade mission enhances our commitment to strengthening ties with African markets, creating opportunities for mutual growth and prosperity.”
The forum featured notable speakers such as H.E. Khalifa Abdulrahman Almarzooqi, UAE Ambassador to Tanzania, and Hon. Dr. Selemani Saidi Jafo, Minister of Industry and Trade in Tanzania.
According to Dubai Customs data, non-oil trade between Dubai and Tanzania grew 9% in 2023, reaching AED 9.8 billion. With 274 Tanzanian companies registered as active members of the Dubai Chamber, the event underscored the growing business potential between the two nations, particularly in sectors like automotive, energy, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals.
