Dubai International Marine Club has announced a bumper 2026-2027 season featuring 40 races, championships, and events running from September 2026 to April 2027, cementing the emirate's status as a global hub for marine sports.
The new season kicks off in September with the 22ft Al Shindagha Traditional Dhow Sailing Race. It will be followed by a packed calendar spanning 22ft, 43ft, and 60ft traditional dhow races, the UAE Modern Sailing Championship, traditional rowing, aquabike championships, fishing and kitesurf competitions, and kayak events.
The club will also host rounds of the UIM Formula 1 World Championship and the UIM XCAT World Series, further boosting Dubai's international sporting profile.
A major highlight of the calendar is the staging of two editions of the Al Gaffal 60ft Traditional Dhow Sailing Race. The postponed 35th edition will run in October 2026, with the 36th edition following in April 2027.
Dr. Ahmad Saeed Bin Meshar, Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club, said the programme reflects the club's commitment to blending the UAE's maritime heritage with the growth of modern marine sports, in line with Dubai's reputation for hosting major global sporting events rooted in tradition.
He credited sustained government support for sports and athletes as key to positioning Dubai among the world's top destinations for marine sporting events.
Bin Meshar added that the club enters the new season with ambitions to maintain organisational and sporting excellence, offering a calendar that serves both athletes and enthusiasts. He said the focus remains on nurturing national talent, safeguarding maritime traditions, and reinforcing the UAE's standing on the international sporting stage through premier marine championships.
