The Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gold Association of Guangdong Province in China to strengthen cooperation between the gold and jewellery sectors in Dubai and China, including Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.

The agreement was signed by DJG Chairman Tawhid Abdullah and YE Yongguang, Vice President of the association, on behalf of President ZHEN Weigang. It took place at the Dubai Business Forum – China, organised recently by Dubai Chambers in Shenzhen.

The MoU aims to ease market access for companies represented by both bodies and open new commercial opportunities. It covers the full jewellery value chain, from the supply of precious metals, diamonds and gemstones to manufacturing, processing, distribution and trade facilitation. It also seeks to draw on Guangdong’s manufacturing and processing strengths to support jewellery production and trade in Dubai.

Both sides will exchange information and expertise on customs procedures, bonded and temporary import regimes, logistics, insurance and compliance. They will also explore ways to facilitate the trade of precious metals, diamonds, gemstones and jade from Dubai to Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, in line with applicable laws and regulations.

Other areas include reciprocal visits and trade delegations, joint participation in exhibitions, trade missions and conferences, and cooperation on innovation, product development and marketing in response to changing global consumer demand.

Abdullah said Dubai is strengthening its position as a global hub for the gold and jewellery trade, backed by a sophisticated business environment, advanced logistics and strong international links. He said the MoU bridges Dubai’s market advantages with Guangdong’s manufacturing strengths and will help businesses build high-value partnerships and support sustainable growth in both markets.
