Dubai Land Department Launches Flexi Rent Initiative to Broaden Tenant Payment Options

Dubai Land Department (DLD) has launched the Flexi Rent initiative, signing cooperation agreements with 11 real estate companies to introduce more flexible rental payment models across the emirate.

The initiative allows tenants to pay rent in monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual instalments, moving away from the traditional upfront payment structure that has long defined Dubai's rental market. Participating firms include Wasl Properties, Deyaar Property Management, Driven Properties, Harbor Real Estate, and seven other developers and brokerages.

Under the agreements, the Flexi Rent model will apply to vacant or eligible units owned or managed by participating partners. These companies will also offer rental incentives, discounts, and promotional packages for new tenants, subject to their internal policies and applicable regulations.

DLD will oversee the regulatory and coordination framework, supplying partners with guidelines, supporting technical integration with approved systems, and monitoring overall performance. The initiative will be promoted through the Dubai REST app, the department's website, and its digital platforms.

Performance during the pilot phase will be tracked against key indicators including the number of enrolled units, contracts signed under the new model, occupancy rates, and payment compliance levels. Tenant feedback and complaint resolution rates will also be monitored.

The initiative aligns with the Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033, which aims to strengthen the sector's competitiveness and position the emirate as a leading global destination for investment and living. It also supports the broader objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

DLD described the launch as part of its commitment to building a resilient real estate sector through innovation and private sector collaboration, with the goal of delivering practical housing solutions that meet the community's evolving needs.
