Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, has unveiled the ambitious ‘Design Sector Strategy 2033,’ aimed at positioning Dubai as a global leader in design excellence.
The strategy, approved by Sheikha Latifa, seeks to establish the emirate as a hub for designers, creatives, and industry experts while fostering the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices.
The announcement coincides with the 10th edition of Dubai Design Week, organized under Sheikha Latifa’s patronage. Running until 10 November, this year’s event is held in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) and Dubai Culture, drawing international attention to Dubai’s growing design scene.
Sheikha Latifa emphasized Dubai’s ongoing transformation into a global center for art, culture, and design, aligning with the leadership’s vision for a sustainable, innovative, and competitive creative economy.
"The Design Sector Strategy 2033 will boost the design sector’s competitiveness and position Dubai as a leading destination for creative talent,"
she said.
Key targets of the Strategy include increasing design-related education by 20%, supporting 500 Dubai-based design businesses, and hosting over 100 design events globally. The plan also aims to attract four million visitors to Dubai’s design exhibitions by 2033.
The Strategy promotes innovation across sectors such as fashion, architecture, and product design while nurturing an ecosystem that supports new business creation, collaboration, and the development of cutting-edge technologies. Through these initiatives, Dubai is set to further solidify its place as a pioneering force in the global design landscape.
