The Dubai Media Council hosted its inaugural Dubai Media Retreat, gathering over 100 senior executives from across the advertising, film, gaming and digital media sectors to shape the next phase of growth for the emirate's media industry.

Representing companies with a combined estimated $13 billion in local economic activity, attendees included global names such as Amazon, Twitch, Yango, Xsolla, Action Films and Blink Studios. The retreat centred on structured roundtable discussions covering infrastructure, talent development, regulation and investment.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, underscored the strategic importance of the sector.

"As global media undergoes a profound transformation, our priority is to ensure Dubai remains at the forefront of this evolution by building one of the world's most dynamic and globally competitive media ecosystems,"

he said.

He noted that the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 targets doubling the media industry's contribution to Dubai's GDP through investment attraction, talent empowerment and accelerated innovation.

A headline announcement came from Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, who confirmed a new integrated platform will launch before the end of the year. The system will consolidate services, approvals and operational processes into a single interface, reducing friction for media businesses operating in Dubai.

Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, said the retreat reinforced that resilience in the sector is built through close cooperation and sustained engagement between public and private stakeholders.

The discussions will be compiled into a strategic report to inform future policy and initiatives. The retreat is part of a broader programme by the Dubai Media Council to strengthen industry collaboration and reinforce Dubai's standing as a global media hub.
