Dubai Ports Authority has officially become a regular member of the International Association of Ports and Harbors, marking a significant step in the emirate’s strategy to boost its presence in the global maritime sector.
The move positions Dubai to play a more active role in advancing sustainable, efficient, and resilient port operations worldwide.
Through this membership, DPA will engage with port communities across more than 90 countries, participating in initiatives focused on emissions reduction, energy transition, digital transformation, maritime supply chain coordination, risk management, and operational resilience.
Captain Ibrahim Al Blooshi, Executive Director of Dubai Ports Authority at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said the membership aligns with Dubai’s vision to integrate more deeply with the international maritime ecosystem. He noted that the step enhances collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the adoption of best practices in safety, sustainability, and digital innovation.
Al Blooshi emphasized that the membership strengthens Dubai’s competitiveness as a future-ready maritime hub and opens opportunities for strategic partnerships and joint projects. It also supports smart solutions, advanced technologies, and more reliable port services that enhance business continuity and customer experience.
Dubai Ports Authority oversees Jebel Ali Port, Al Hamriya Port, and Mina Rashid, as well as Dubai Drydocks and Dubai Maritime City. The Authority continues to modernize operations, improve infrastructure, and adopt international standards to elevate the global standing of its ports.
This development reflects Dubai’s broader ambition to position its ports as centers of trade, competitiveness, and innovation, leveraging international partnerships to enhance efficiency and resilience in a rapidly evolving global maritime landscape.
