The Dubai Press Club, in partnership with the National Media Authority, hosted a specialised workshop on the UAE's media content standards as part of its ongoing Media Workshops series.

The session, titled "The UAE's Media Content Standards," was presented by Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Vice Chairman of the National Media Authority. Attendees included Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, Maryam Al Mulla, Director of Dubai Press Club, along with media professionals and content creators from across the industry.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, praised the National Media Authority's efforts to modernise the sector's legislative framework, saying it strengthens the UAE's standing as a regional and global media hub.

Al Shehhi outlined the legal structure governing UAE media, focusing on the Media Regulation Law and its executive regulations approved in 2023. He described the framework as flexible and investment friendly, designed to support high quality local content while upholding national values and international standards.

He stressed that media regulations are not meant to limit creativity but to guide it responsibly, protecting both society and the country's national identity. The workshop also covered rules for emerging sectors such as digital media, gaming, artificial intelligence and streaming services.

Al Mulla thanked Al Shehhi for his detailed presentation and said the event reflects the Press Club's commitment to open dialogue with policymakers. She called the partnership with the National Media Authority a model of institutional collaboration supporting a more professional media ecosystem.

Discussions also addressed safeguards against misinformation, the importance of relying on official sources, protecting privacy, shielding children from inappropriate content and curbing inflammatory material.
