Dubai’s Robotaxi programme has recorded more than four million kilometres of travel and completed 7,613 passenger trips, marking further progress in the emirate’s transition towards autonomous transportation.

The Robotaxi fleet currently consists of 144 vehicles, including 48 in active operation, completing around 50 trips each day. The service has also achieved a 97% customer satisfaction rate, indicating growing public acceptance of autonomous mobility.

The programme supports Dubai’s target of making 25% of all transportation trips autonomous by 2030. Development is taking place through a phased approach, with vehicles operating in defined areas to test safety, reliability and performance under real-world conditions before expanding fully driverless services.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is working with global autonomous mobility companies Baidu Apollo Go, WeRide and Pony.ai to introduce and expand autonomous taxi services across the emirate. These partnerships aim to integrate driverless vehicles into Dubai’s wider public and shared mobility network.

Uber has also announced that Baidu’s fully driverless Apollo Go vehicles are now available to riders through its platform in selected areas of Dubai, with New Horizon Luxury Transport operating the fleet.

The expansion comes as Dubai’s population exceeds four million, increasing demand for convenient and technology-enabled transport options. During the first half of 2026, public transport, shared mobility services and taxis carried 348 million passengers, averaging around 1.9 million riders per day.

With millions of kilometres of operational data already collected, Dubai is moving its Robotaxi programme beyond testing towards wider real-world use. The initiative is expected to complement existing taxis, public transport and shared mobility services while supporting the emirate’s long-term smart and sustainable transportation goals.
