Dubai will host the 12th World Green Economy Summit on October 21 and 22, bringing together 135 ministers, business leaders, government officials and innovators to push the green transition from successful pilots to projects that work at scale.
The event will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. It is organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), and runs under the theme "From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy".
Participants will share expertise and highlight initiatives and models that can be expanded to speed up the shift to a green economy.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of DEWA and Chairman of WGEO, said the diversity of perspectives gives the discussions a practical edge and supports cooperation among governments, businesses, investors and international organisations. He added that the current stage demands a faster move from ambition to implementation.
Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute, said the summit advances practical solutions for a more sustainable energy future. Bashar Al-Natoor of Fitch Ratings pointed to the role of ESG sukuk, bonds and sustainability-linked instruments in financing renewable energy and climate resilience projects, while Avinash Kumar of Earthood said green finance can help GCC countries attract capital and accelerate their transition.
The agenda rests on four pillars: Energy Technology and Infrastructure, Business Strategy and Transition, Water and Food Security, and Finance. Artificial Intelligence, Governance and System Enablers, including supply chains and the circular economy, will run across all sessions.
