Dubai: Traffic Enhancements on Beirut Street Completed, Reducing Travel Time by 30%

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the completion of significant traffic improvements on Beirut Street, effective Thursday. These upgrades are set to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion, particularly during peak hours.

The most notable change includes the addition of a new lane along a 3-kilometer stretch of Beirut Street, from its intersection with Al Nahda Street to Amman Street in the northbound direction. This expansion will cut travel time by over 30%, reducing the duration of the journey from 18 minutes to just 12 minutes.

In addition to the extra lane, the upgrades increase the street’s capacity from 4,500 to 6,000 vehicles per hour, helping to ease traffic congestion and delays, especially during the busy evening rush hour. The improvement is expected to significantly alleviate traffic bottlenecks between Al Nahda Street and Amman Street.

Further traffic enhancements include the installation of a storage lane at the intersection of Baghdad Street and Beirut Street. This measure is aimed at accommodating higher traffic volumes and ensuring smoother movement at the traffic signal.

The completed improvements are also designed to reduce travel time along Beirut Street towards the Airport Tunnel and from Beirut Street to Baghdad Street, continuing towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

These changes benefit both residents and visitors in surrounding areas, including Muhaisnah, Al Qusais, Al Twar, and the Al Qusais Industrial Area, improving overall traffic efficiency in both directions. The RTA’s latest initiative underscores its ongoing efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure across Dubai.
