Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) to advance regulatory integration across the emirate's road network, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to infrastructure excellence and road safety.
The agreement was signed by Hussain Al Banna, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, and Abdulla Al Hashmi, COO of Parks and Zones at DP World GCC, on behalf of their respective organisations.
The partnership supports the implementation of Law No. (4) of 2021 Regulating Roads in the Emirate of Dubai, establishing a unified framework to align planning strategies, oversee road development, and ensure compliance with approved regulatory standards across development zones and free zones.
Al Banna noted that the agreement reflects RTA's ongoing mandate to preserve Dubai's urban character while strengthening the sustainability and efficiency of road infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of close collaboration with strategic partners, including developers, to maintain and operate road rights-of-way in line with best practices.
Al Hashmi said the agreement underscores DP World's commitment to aligning its development plans with Dubai's vision for road safety and operational excellence, ensuring a safe and seamless environment for the business community and residents.
The RTA has established similar agreements with a broad range of developers and free zones across Dubai, including Dubai Maritime City, Emaar Properties, DAMAC Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, among others.
The growing list of partnerships signals a coordinated, emirate-wide push to bring private and public sector stakeholders under a single regulatory framework, supporting Dubai's long-term infrastructure and economic development goals.
