e& UAE has launched the world's first commercial mobile network running on Upper 6GHz 256TRX Giga-MIMO technology, moving the advanced spectrum into live service and placing the UAE at the front of the 5G-Advanced race.
The company announced the rollout on Tuesday, describing it as the foundation for the country's move towards 6G. The deployment sits on top of the existing 5.5G network and supports the national 6G roadmap led by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, well ahead of international 6G standardisation.
Marwan bin Shakar, Chief Technology Officer of e& UAE, said the company has moved from technical validation to a live commercial reality.
"This achievement directly underpins the UAE's vision to remain the world's most advanced digital hub,"
he said.
The network uses the 6425 to 6775 MHz range, which offers up to 350 MHz of continuous bandwidth. Paired with 256TRX Giga-MIMO, it greatly expands antenna capacity per site compared with conventional 64TRX 5G deployments.
Performance figures are notable. Single users can reach peak speeds of up to 10 Gbps on the downlink and 1 Gbps on the uplink, delivering fibre-like broadband over the air. Advanced beamforming also allows coverage to match existing 3.5 GHz C-band sites, overcoming the range limits usually seen at higher frequencies. Single-cell throughput can exceed 50 Gbps on commercial TDD bands.
The company said the network improves capacity, interference suppression and service quality in densely populated urban areas. It is also built to support AI-native network operations, extended reality, autonomous industrial systems and smart-city infrastructure.
e& UAE added that the experience gained from an end-to-end commercial deployment will guide future network evolution as it expands high-capacity mobile connectivity nationwide and supports the country's digital economy ambitions.
