UAE: Pre-Order Eid Sacrificial Animals via Careem and Noon for Doorstep Delivery
As Eid Al Adha approaches, residents in the UAE can now conveniently pre-order sacrificial animals through grocery delivery apps Careem and Noon, with the meat delivered straight to their doorsteps.
This innovative service, priced between Dh400 to Dh2,150, offers a selection of sheep and goats in various sizes to accommodate diverse preferences and budgets.
During Eid Al Adha, Muslims commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah's command. Known as Udhiya or Qurbani, this tradition involves distributing the meat from the sacrificed animal among family, friends, and those in need.
This year marks the first time such a service has been available on grocery delivery platforms in the country, reflecting an effort to streamline this important Islamic tradition. Noon Minutes has reported nearly one million residents engaging with its dedicated Eid Al Adha section on the app, indicating significant interest and demand.
Hussein Heiba, commercial lead at Noon, expressed delight at the positive response, emphasizing that orders can be placed up to two days before Eid Al Adha.
Careem's VP of Groceries, Chase Lario, highlighted the platform's partnership with Dhabayeh Al Emarat to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality livestock, adhering to sacred traditions.
Both Careem and Noon provide customers with options to choose the type and quantity of meat, as well as the preferred day for sacrifice and delivery. Lario emphasized that all sacrificial animals available on Careem are adults aged above six months, with a focus on locally sourced varieties such as Naimi and Najdi sheep, along with locally raised goats.
With Eid Al Adha falling on June 16 this year, residents will enjoy a paid holiday from June 15 to June 18 to observe the festival. This initiative by Careem and Noon aims to simplify the process of performing Udhiya while ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining hygiene and halal standards.
