Emirates has partnered with Al Etihad Payments to let customers book flights using Jaywan, the UAE's national card scheme, marking a fresh step in the country's push toward a cashless travel economy.
The agreement was signed by Abdulla Al Olama, Vice President Commercial Operations UAE at Emirates, and Andrea Cianchetti, Chief Product Officer at Al Etihad Payments, with senior officials from both organisations present.
From September 16, 2026, travellers can use their Jaywan cards to book Emirates flights either online through emirates.com or in person at Emirates Retail stores. The airline will accept the full range of Jaywan cards, including the Royal Debit Card, Prestige Debit Card and Prepaid Card.
Cardholders stand to gain more than just a new payment method. Jaywan users will receive discounts across all cabin classes and most fare types on one-way and return tickets departing from Dubai. The offer runs for bookings made between September 16, 2026 and August 31, 2027, covering travel up to February 29, 2028.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, described the move as an important step in improving the booking experience, giving customers greater flexibility through a growing national payments network. He noted the airline's ongoing efforts to align with partners across the UAE's digital payments ecosystem and support the shift toward cashless transactions.
Tariq Al Hawi, Chief Operating Officer at Al Etihad Payments, said the tie-up reflects Jaywan's broader ambition to deliver real value beyond payments alone. He pointed to the new acceptance at emirates.com and Emirates Retail stores as proof that Jaywan can link everyday financial tools with meaningful travel benefits.
The partnership adds another layer to the UAE's expanding digital finance infrastructure, further tying national payment systems to the country's aviation and travel sectors.
