Emirates has unveiled a sweeping UAE flag livery across the fuselage of one of its Airbus A380s, turning the world's largest commercial passenger aircraft into a flying tribute to national unity.
The striking design, applied to aircraft A6-EVG, is part of the airline's 'This Flag Will Always Fly' campaign — a direct response to a nationwide call by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, urging citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag as a symbol of solidarity and national pride.
Rendered in bold 3D and draped across both sides of the aircraft, the livery extends the airline's iconic tail design into something far grander in scale. The aircraft has already operated flights to New York and Brisbane, with more A380 destinations across the Emirates network to follow.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, said the initiative honours a nation that has consistently reached higher.
"There is no greater stage for our flag than in the skies, and no greater privilege for Emirates than to fly it with pride,"
he said.
Plans are also in place to apply the flag design to an Emirates Boeing 777, extending the campaign beyond the A380 fleet.
The special livery joins a tradition of commemorative designs at Emirates. In 2017, the airline marked the Year of Zayed with a bespoke livery on 10 aircraft, and that same year launched 40 aircraft carrying Expo 2020 Dubai designs.
The UAE flag already appears on the tail of every Emirates aircraft, but this latest initiative puts it front and centre — visible from runways, skies and cities across the globe.
