etisalat money, the fintech arm of etisalat, has announced a strategic partnership with Visa to broaden international money transfer options for consumers and businesses in the UAE through Visa Direct, Visa’s global money movement platform.

The collaboration is designed to support a wider range of cross-border payment use cases, including person-to-person remittances and small business international payments. It will also bring new cross-border capabilities to the etisalat money app, giving customers a secure and convenient way to send money abroad.

etisalat money plans to introduce four additional transfer capabilities. Visa Direct to Card will let customers send funds straight to eligible recipients’ cards using card numbers. Visa+ will allow eligible transfers between different peer-to-peer payment apps using only a recipient’s phone number. The partnership will also support personal-to-business transfers and SWIFT transfers.

These additions will complement existing services that reach more than 150 countries, with payouts to bank accounts, digital wallets and cash pickup. The app already offers live exchange rates, estimated transfer times and transaction tracking.

Initial support will cover key remittance corridors including India, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and China, along with digital wallet destinations across several markets.

Melike Kara Tanrikulu, Chief Executive Officer of etisalat money, said international transfers are a critical part of how people and businesses stay connected across borders.

“The opportunity lies in offering greater choice and flexibility in how money moves,”

she said.

Fadi Moukaddem, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar at Visa, said combining Visa Direct’s network with etisalat money’s digital services will give customers more choice in how money is sent and received internationally.

By bringing more payment methods into a single platform, etisalat money aims to meet the needs of the UAE’s internationally connected population and reduce the need to juggle multiple services.
