The UAE ranks among the top three of 10 markets surveyed for investor satisfaction with quality of life, according to new HSBC research conducted by Ipsos.
More than eight in 10 UAE investors (83 percent) report being satisfied, compared with 75 percent globally.
The findings are based on a survey of 9,993 affluent and high-net-worth investors across 10 markets, including 703 in the UAE. They were released as HSBC hosts its first UAE Wealth Investment Summit in Dubai on Thursday.
Entrepreneurial appetite also stands out. One in five UAE investors (21 percent) are launching, acquiring or investing in a new business venture, compared with 17 percent globally.
Confidence in personal finances runs high. Nearly nine in 10 UAE investors (87 percent) feel sure of meeting their short-term financial goals, while 81 percent are confident about their long-term goals, both ahead of their global peers.
Sami Abouzahr, HSBC’s Head of International Wealth and Premier Banking, Middle East & UAE, said the results reflect an environment where people and their wealth can thrive.
“Investors here are confident, ambitious and internationally connected, and they are planning for the long term,”
he said. He added that hosting the summit signals HSBC’s confidence in the UAE’s future as a global wealth centre.
The country’s highly international population has made it a base from which investors manage and grow wealth across several countries. Craig Worobec, HSBC’s Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions, Middle East & UAE, said more investors are choosing to manage that wealth from the UAE as the sector deepens. He said HSBC’s role is to provide access to global investment opportunities, with planning that adapts as goals change.
The research also points to a significant transfer of wealth ahead. Half of UAE investors (50 percent) expect to receive a substantial inheritance, compared with 43 percent globally, while 58 percent expect to leave a significant legacy to their heirs or other causes.
