The fourth edition of the Global Trade and Supply Chain Summit opened today in Dubai, hosted by Economist Impact in collaboration with the New Economy Academy.
Held at JW Marriott Hotel Marina Dubai, the two-day event has attracted over 500 leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the future of global trade and supply chain operations.
This year's summit focuses on key topics, including enhancing supply chain resilience, integrating sustainability into operations, and overcoming geopolitical challenges. With more than 100 international and local speakers leading 60 sessions, discussions range from digital innovation and advanced technologies to sustainable practices amid rising costs.
In his keynote address, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, emphasized the country’s leadership in fostering multilateral trade. He highlighted the success of the UAE’s Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements in boosting non-oil exports and driving economic growth.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi stressed the importance of forging new alliances and adapting to sustainability and energy demands.
Day 1 featured discussions on generative AI in procurement, supply chain finance, and the impact of free trade agreements on developing nations. Other topics included strategies for navigating digital trade regulations and building resilience to climate-related disruptions.
The second day will explore themes like financing sustainable trade, AI-driven delivery networks, and the role of local innovation in global trade. Sessions will also highlight Africa’s digital trade strategies and the effects of India’s economic growth on global markets.
The summit concludes tomorrow, promising insights into the future of trade and supply chain transformation in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
