The fourth edition of the GPRC Summit has opened in Dubai, bringing together more than 800 senior officials, executives and specialists to discuss the future of governance, risk, compliance and performance in an increasingly connected world.

Held over two days under the theme “Driving Success: Integrating GRC with Strategy Execution in a Hyperconnected World,” the summit is exploring how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are transforming risk management, compliance, decision-making and institutional resilience.

The opening day featured Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government; Brigadier Rashid Ibrahim Rashid Al Muhairi from the Ministry of Defence; Raja Al Mazrouei, CEO of Etihad Credit Insurance; and Tor Inge Vasshus, Founder and CEO of Corporater.

Discussions focused on the transition from traditional governance and compliance models towards approaches that integrate risk and compliance directly into institutional strategy and business objectives. Representatives from organisations including the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Mubadala Investment Company, Abu Dhabi City Municipality and GCC Board Directors Institute also explored regional and global best practices.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in strengthening cybersecurity awareness and protecting the digital environment. He noted that UAE government institutions have achieved a transformation exceeding 50% in the adoption of artificial intelligence applications, while stressing the importance of securing these technologies.

Brigadier Al Muhairi outlined the Ministry of Defence’s approach to strengthening national security and defence readiness through effective governance, strategic risk management and smart technologies.

Raja Al Mazrouei discussed the changing role of corporate boards, highlighting the growing importance of predictive AI and Agentic AI in helping leadership teams anticipate business risks and opportunities rather than simply responding to existing information.

The summit supports wider national efforts to strengthen digital security, institutional resilience and technology-driven governance while reinforcing the UAE’s position in cybersecurity and advanced digital transformation.
