Kenya Extends Dubai Flight Ban to 24th Jan 2022

Kenya has extended the suspension of all inbound and transit passenger flights from Dubai to 24th January 2022, after the two nations failed to reach a settlement, with Dubai failing to lift a ban on air travelers from Kenya.

Last Monday, Kenya suspended all inbound and transit passenger flights from UAE to retaliate a move by Dubai to ban all passenger flights from the country over fake COVID tests. The suspension expired yesterday at midnight.

The ban does not, however, affect cargo flights that are normally flown by carriers such as Kenya Airways and Emirates from the UAE into Kenya.

Just recently, Dubai removed five African countries from its ‘red list’, including Ghana, Angola, Uganda, Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire, leaving out Kenya. Thus, with effect from 13th January 2022, Emirates resumed passenger services to and from Guinea (CKY), Cote d’Ivoire (ABJ), Ghana (ACC), Uganda (EBB) and Republic of Angola (Luanda).
