Dubai Municipality has launched “A Million Voices for Food” initiative under the slogan “I pledge to food safety,” during the 16th edition of the Dubai International Food Safety Conference, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The initiative aims to create widespread awareness on the Municipality’s objectives in food safety, especially public benefit services, which are in line with its strategic aims to offer the highest standards of health and safety in the food sector, further enhancing safety and well-being of community members in Dubai.

The initiative will continue till the goal of million votes for food is achieved.

The votes were initiated by Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, and Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.

The ‘Million Voices for Food’ initiative focuses on introducing Dubai Municipality’s services in food safety that are provided to the food sector and consumers to ensure increased awareness in food safety behaviours at home, during food preparation, shopping and preservation. The initiative further highlights the vital role of the Municipality in ensuring safety of all targeted food, educational and health institutions in Dubai.

Furthermore, the Municipality is committed to reducing diseases transmitted through food, including food poisoning, while assuming the responsibility of maintaining food safety in food companies.

The initiative aims at creating awareness and ensuring food safety by informing the society about healthy and safe methods of food preparation and preservation, as well as encouraging the youth to actively participate in the process of fostering safe food practices at businesses and homes.
