Noor Dubai Foundation honours partners supporting visual impairment programme
Noor Dubai Foundation, a UAE-based charity focused on the prevention of blindness and visual impairment globally, recently held a ceremony to award its partners and contributors.
Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of the Noor Dubai Foundation, expressed his gratitude to the partners and contributors of the Noor Dubai Foundation.
Since its inception in 2008, Al Ketbi said that Noor Dubai succeeded in benefiting 33 million people around the world, through its treatment, preventive and awareness programmes.
Al Ketbi expressed his gratitude to all the partners and contributors and highlighted that the UAE has made an impactful contribution in the field of humanitarian and charitable aid. He emphasised that this stems from the values of the leaders and the UAE society that pay great emphasis to social and humanitarian work.
The award ceremony was attended by top officials, including Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs (PCLA) in Dubai.
Suroor thanked all stakeholders for their efforts in supporting the PCLA in Dubai, explaining that it is necessary to pay attention to the labour community's needs as they are a key partner in development. The improved accessibility to eye care provided by the Noor Dubai Foundation - for the early detection and treatment of low vision - is an essential service to avoid the harm that may result from the risks of vision problems.
Dr. Amar Safar, Medical Director at Moorfields hospital Dubai, mentioned that one of the values that Moorfields Hospitals is keen on is investing in humanitarian and philanthropic work, Moorfields Dubai was one of the first medical facilities to support Noor Dubai Foundation's Emirates Treatment Programme.
Dr. Maryam Al Rayssi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, stated that the partnership between Dubai Hospital and Noor Dubai Foundation dates back to 2008, when Dubai hospital hosted patients and their families from the Middle East, Asia and Africa. She added that Dubai Hospital is committed towards sustaining the collaboration with Noor Dubai to reach out to those in need.
From his side, Saleh Al Shawa, General Manager of Al Jaber Optical Group, noted that Al Jaber Group participated in many initiatives for the early detection of eye diseases and also distributed eyeglasses to the needy free-of-charge.
Similarly, other companies in the optical field, such as Aster Opticals participated in screening and treating thousands across the emirate. Neeraj Dabral, Operations Manager at Aster Opticals, was among the participants and highlighted the charitable and humanitarian work of Aster Optical, saying that its among its top priorities.
Among the awardees were a number of eye-care providers in Dubai, including the Eye Consultants Centre and the Health Fund Office. Early detection programmes are scheduled to continue to include 6,000 beneficiaries this year and more than 500 surgical treatments.
