Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has extended its Bus-On-Demand service to Al Satwa, Al Quoz and Mirdif, taking the total number of areas covered across the emirate to 20 as demand for the flexible transport option continues to climb.
The expansion comes on the back of striking growth figures. The service carried 527,000 riders in the first half of 2026, marking a 25.1% rise compared with the same period last year. June proved the standout month, with 105,990 riders, the highest monthly total recorded so far this year.
RTA attributes the surge to growing public confidence in the app-based service, helped along by a 54% expansion of operating areas and a larger fleet, now numbering 55 buses, brought in to keep pace with rising demand.
The newly added areas form part of a broader push to strengthen first- and last-mile connectivity, linking residential neighbourhoods with public transport stations and making door-to-step journeys more practical for commuters. The move supports Dubai's wider ambition to lead in seamless, sustainable urban mobility.
Using the service remains straightforward. Riders download the Dubai Bus on Demand app, register and enter their details to activate their account, then book journeys as needed. Payment is flexible too, with credit cards, debit cards and nol cards all accepted.
With the latest additions, the service now spans neighbourhoods from Al Barsha and Business Bay to Downtown Dubai, DIFC and Dubai Investment Park, among others, reflecting RTA's ongoing effort to widen its footprint across the city.
The authority has reaffirmed its commitment to developing the service further, positioning it as a key piece of Dubai's drive toward a smarter, more convenient and sustainable public transport network.
