Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has recognised 737 public bus drivers for outstanding performance in 2025, linking the initiative directly to a record-breaking year for ridership across the emirate's bus network.

The honoured drivers were selected through an annual evaluation framework assessing traffic safety compliance, adherence to regulations, service quality, avoidance of violations, and professional discipline. Each recognised driver demonstrated consistently high results across all criteria throughout the year.

Marwan Al Zarooni, Director of Buses at RTA's Public Transport Agency, said the initiative reflects the authority's strategic commitment to safety, customer happiness, and world-class service delivery. He added that it fosters healthy competition among drivers and raises road safety standards across the network.

The impact of that commitment is visible in the numbers. Public bus ridership reached 197.2 million in 2025, a 4.9% increase over 2024 and the highest growth rate recorded in recent years. Al Zarooni attributed the surge in part to the high standards maintained by drivers on the ground, saying their efforts had a direct bearing on growing customer confidence in the public transport system.

The recognition forms part of RTA's broader push to develop its human capital and embed a culture of excellence within its operations. Honoured drivers responded positively, describing the initiative as a strong incentive to sustain performance and build on the results already achieved.

Al Zarooni congratulated the recipients and noted that their professionalism reflects well beyond the transport sector, projecting the broader values of Dubai and the UAE to residents and visitors alike.

The RTA conducts the driver evaluation annually, with results feeding into its wider vision of becoming the world leader in seamless and sustainable mobility.
