Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination with the Dubai Road Naming Committee, has renamed Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej as Sheikh Zayed Farm Street.

The decision highlights the historical importance of Sheikh Zayed Farm and its role in the early formation of the United Arab Emirates, marking it as a key national landmark.

The renaming recognises the site’s designation by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as the country’s third union site, alongside Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira. The move underscores the farm’s symbolic value in the nation’s founding journey and its connection to pivotal leadership discussions.

Sheikh Zayed Farm holds deep historical significance. In March 1971, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan spent nearly two weeks at the site, hosting a series of meetings with the Rulers of the emirates. These discussions helped advance the process that led to the signing of the Union Agreement and the UAE Constitution in July 1971, shaping the framework of the federation.

Authorities said the renaming aligns with Dubai’s broader initiative to preserve and highlight national heritage within the urban landscape. By linking road names to historically significant locations, the emirate aims to reinforce collective memory and strengthen national identity among residents and future generations.

Today, Sheikh Zayed Farm stands as a prominent symbol of unity and leadership. It reflects the founding values of the UAE and continues to represent the vision that guided the country’s transformation into a stable and globally recognised nation.
