At the UNHCR headquarters in Geneva, the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women Refugee and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) have solidified their partnership with two pivotal agreements.

The first agreement extends their collaboration for three years, focusing on supporting refugee women globally. The second agreement launches a groundbreaking $1 million project aimed at establishing sustainable shelter solutions for 871 families in Burkina Faso and Chad.

The signing ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi and officials from both organizations, highlighted the successes of previous initiatives and outlined plans for future sustainable development projects.

Dr. Al Shamsi, conveying regards from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Nation”, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, emphasized the fund's dedication to enhancing the lives of refugee women through education, healthcare, and skills development.

Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri praised the Sheikha Fatima Fund as a pioneering force in empowering displaced women since its establishment in 2000.

Dominique Hyde of UNHCR underscored the critical role of solidarity in addressing the unique challenges faced by women and girls in displacement crises worldwide.

The agreements mark a renewed commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of refugee women, underscoring the collaborative efforts essential for their empowerment and security.
