Suqia UAE's Water Aid Reaches 14.9 Million Beneficiaries Globally
The Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) held its first meeting of 2024, chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
During the meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed Suqia UAE’s annual report showcasing its work during 2023 and the most prominent development projects it implemented around the world to provide safe drinking water to underprivileged communities.
The beneficiaries of Suqia UAE’s projects, since its establishment in 2015, has reached 14.9 million people worldwide.
Al Tayer commented,
“At Suqia UAE, under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, we work, in cooperation with relevant local and global entities and organisations, to provide safe and clean water to communities suffering from water scarcity and pollution.”
The meeting also highlighted the latest developments of the 4th cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, with prizes totalling US$1 million. The award aims to encourage research institutions, individuals, and innovators worldwide to find new and innovative technologies for the production, distribution, storage, monitoring, purification, and desalination of water using renewable energy.
Moreover, the meeting covered the results of Suqia’s annual Ramadan campaign 2024, for the 10th year in a row. The campaign distributed water bottles as part of Iftar meals and food parcels to needy families in various parts of the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in collaboration with Mai Dubai and 16 local charities.
