Museum of the Moon is a new gallery where you can get up close and visually explore the lunar surface. Created by Artist Luke Jerram there are only 7 moons in the world and one of them has found a home at OliOli®.
You can now take a closer look at the lunar surface without having to set foot in a rocket! Immerse yourself around a celestial neighborhood where those famous words “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” were uttered. With a VR experience you can drive around the lunar surface in a moon rover just as the astronauts did all those years ago.
As you relax and unwind in this new gallery allow the music designed by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones to let you drift off on an out of this world adventure.
Interesting Facts
- We have always referred to it as “The Moon” because for a long time we were not aware of other moons in our solar system until Galileo discovered moons orbiting Jupiter. We are now aware of over 200 moons in our solar system.
- Only 12 people have walked on the surface of the moon, the last person to do so was on the 14th December 1972. We haven’t returned in almost 50 years, but perhaps you will get the chance to visit the moon some day in the future.
- It takes 3 days by rocket to reach The Moon. If you could walk to the moon it would take 9.5 years to reach it (without breaks).
The Museum of the Moon is a complimentary feature as part of the OliOli® entry ticket till the 31st of October 2020 as a part of their 3rd birthday celebrations. Advance bookings are mandatory.
