UAE and European Parliament Discuss Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Committee on Defense, Interior, and Foreign Affairs in the Federal National Council (FNC), met with Reinhold Lopatka, Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula, to discuss ways to enhance UAE-European parliamentary cooperation.

During the meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, both officials explored strengthening ties in political, economic, and cultural fields. Dr. Al Nuaimi reaffirmed the deep-rooted strategic relations between the UAE and the European Union, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary collaboration to advance shared interests and promote regional and international stability.

He also highlighted the UAE’s diplomatic efforts in fostering peace, security, and sustainable development, underscoring that the UAE-European partnership spans decades and covers key areas such as politics, security, and energy. Additionally, he proposed launching a joint parliamentary platform to facilitate ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the FNC and the European Parliament.

Lopatka commended the strong communication between both sides, noting that parliamentary engagement plays a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations and aligning perspectives on global issues. He stressed that enhanced cooperation and knowledge exchange would further deepen UAE-European ties, contributing to their mutual development goals.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to fostering stronger parliamentary collaboration and addressing shared challenges through strategic dialogue.
