The UAE Ministry of Family has signed a cooperation agreement with Serbia's Ministry for Family Care and Demography, cementing a bilateral commitment to family empowerment, child protection and demographic policy reform.

The agreement was signed in Belgrade on the sidelines of the international expert conference "One Heart More," held on 24 and 25 May. UAE Minister of Family Sana bint Mohammed Suhail and Serbian Minister of Family Welfare and Demography Jelena Zarić Kovačević signed the pact, with UAE Ambassador to Serbia Ahmed Almenhali in attendance.

The partnership falls under the broader Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in 2022 and reflects a shared conviction that the family unit is foundational to building stable, cohesive societies.

The agreement covers a wide range of policy areas including population and demographic planning, fertility support, work-life balance, early childhood development, elder care and intergenerational solidarity. Cooperation will also extend to reproductive health, digital innovation and the use of artificial intelligence and robotics in support of family policies.

Both sides will implement joint programmes through knowledge exchange, specialised forums, academic visits and collaboration at international organisations focused on family and demographic issues.

Minister Sana affirmed that the agreement advances the UAE's commitment to strengthening global partnerships in family and community development, aligning with the objectives of the national "Year of Family" and the National Family Growth Agenda 2031.

Kovačević described the agreement as a promising new chapter in bilateral relations, one focused on building a sustainable demographic future by investing in families and children.

On the sidelines of the visit, Minister Sana also met with Serbian Prime Minister Dr. Djuro Macut, where both sides reaffirmed the strength of UAE-Serbia relations and their intent to deepen cooperation in family policy and women's empowerment.
