The UAE has officially confirmed that Wednesday, May 28, 2025, will mark the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, following the sighting of the crescent moon. Eid Al Adha will therefore fall on Friday, June 6, corresponding to the 10th day of the Islamic month.

The announcement was made by the Presidential Court, which confirmed the moon sighting that signals the beginning of Dhu al-Hijjah for the Hijri year 1446. The date of Eid Al Adha is determined based on this lunar observation, in keeping with Islamic tradition.

In a statement, the Presidential Court extended congratulations and best wishes to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister.

The Court also conveyed greetings to the people of the UAE and the broader Muslim world, expressing hopes for a holiday filled with blessings, prosperity, and joy.

Eid Al Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the holiest occasions in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God and is marked by prayers, charitable acts, and the sacrifice of livestock.
