The UAE's e-commerce market reached AED42.2 billion (US$11.5 billion) in 2025, more than doubling from AED17.6 billion (US$4.8 billion) in 2020, according to the sixth annual e-commerce report from EZDubai Logistics Hub in Dubai South and Euromonitor International.
That growth represents a compound annual growth rate of 19% over five years. The market is forecast to expand at 9.9% annually between 2026 and 2030, reaching about AED67.2 billion (US$18.3 billion) by the end of the decade.
E-commerce accounted for roughly 15.7% of total UAE retail sales in 2025 and is expected to exceed 20% by 2030, a sign of how mature the country's digital commerce ecosystem has become.
The wider Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region also saw strong momentum. Its e-commerce market grew from AED232.1 billion (US$63.2 billion) in 2020 to AED519.2 billion (US$141.4 billion) in 2025 and is projected to reach AED909.3 billion (US$247.6 billion) by 2030. The report credits rising digital payment adoption, better internet penetration, broader consumer participation and sustained investment in logistics infrastructure.
Apparel and footwear was the largest UAE e-commerce vertical in 2025 at AED11.4 billion, followed by consumer electronics and home care. Consumer appliances are forecast to post strong growth, driven by high purchasing power, demand for premium products and frequent household upgrades.
Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of EZDubai Logistics Hub, Dubai South, said the findings show the strength and maturity of the UAE's digital economy, supported by world-class digital and logistics infrastructure, strong government initiatives and evolving payment solutions.
The report points to several trends shaping the next phase of growth, including artificial intelligence and data-driven personalisation, quick commerce and last-mile delivery, the convergence of social media and shopping, and the rising role of digital wallets, Buy Now Pay Later and embedded finance. It also highlights government-led digital transformation, advanced logistics infrastructure and continued technology investment as key enablers.
