The UAE has secured the 10th position globally in the 2024/2025 Open Data Inventory (ODIN) report, outperforming leading nations including the United States, Germany, Sweden, and Canada.

This major leap cements the country’s status as a global leader in digital government and data transparency.

Published by the Open Data Watch, the ODIN report assesses the openness and comprehensiveness of data published by 197 national statistical offices. It uses 64 indicators to measure the availability, accessibility, and quality of official open data, covering key areas such as economics, finance, health, education, and the environment.

The UAE recorded a total score of 84 points—92 in data openness and 74 in data coverage—placing it ahead of several traditionally high-ranking countries. It also topped the global charts in categories like monetary and banking statistics, food security, and inflation data. Notably, the UAE rose 45 ranks in price and inflation index and 54 ranks in education and trade indicators.

Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director-General of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), said the ranking underscores the UAE’s commitment to integrating digital policy with national development. He added that the nation’s robust infrastructure and coordinated digital strategies have made it a global reference in data-driven governance.

Hanan Ahli, Managing Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, highlighted the UAE’s future-focused approach, calling it a model of transparent and open government. She emphasized the role of strategic data in supporting policymaking and long-term planning.

The ODIN report reinforces the UAE’s vision of building a digitally advanced, transparent, and inclusive government, driving innovation and global competitiveness through open data.
