The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (Awqaf) has announced the opening of registration for the Haj season of 2025, set to commence from the beginning of September 2024.
Prospective pilgrims are advised that registration will only be valid if completed through the Authority’s smart application or official website, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The conclusion of this year's Haj pilgrimage was marked on Tuesday, June 18, with pilgrims observing the symbolic stoning of the devil on the third day of rituals. Approximately 1.8 million pilgrims participated in this year's Haj, with 1.6 million arriving from international locations outside of Saudi Arabia. Haj, considered one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, is obligatory at least once in a lifetime for Muslims who possess the necessary means.
Traditionally, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issues Haj permits exclusively to Emirati nationals, while expatriates are required to apply through the quotas designated by their respective countries of origin and comply with their stipulated procedures.
For those planning their pilgrimage, a list of licensed tour operators is available on the official website of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. These operators provide comprehensive Haj packages covering visa arrangements, accommodations, transportation, and meals.
Prospective pilgrims are encouraged to stay informed via the Authority’s platforms for any updates or changes regarding the registration process and other pertinent information related to the upcoming Haj season.
