As part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the UAE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Khan Younis Municipality to repair water lines and conduct emergency maintenance of the city's water networks.
This initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of residents and enhance the municipality's ability to provide essential infrastructure services.
The MoU comes in response to a critical water crisis in Khan Younis, where approximately 70% of the main water networks have been damaged, and 25 wells have been completely destroyed. The ongoing humanitarian efforts will facilitate the re-operation of water wells and reservoirs in the area, directly addressing the needs of nearly 900,000 displaced individuals.
Key actions outlined in the MoU include the repair of water submersibles, extending external water networks, and supplying operational materials such as solar and gas. Additionally, water barrels will be placed at central filling points to ensure accessible water supply for densely populated areas.
The UAE's commitment extends beyond immediate repairs, aiming to prevent health disasters and improve the environmental situation while supporting residents during these catastrophic conditions. This collaboration reinforces the UAE's ongoing humanitarian aid efforts across the Gaza Strip, delivering vital water supplies to thousands daily.
