The UAE will showcase one of the largest country pavilions at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, highlighting a blend of traditional Emirati materials and Japanese wooden building techniques.
This was announced on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony led by UAE Ambassador to Japan, Shihab Al Faheem, at the expo site on Yumeshima Island.
The pavilion, inspired by date palm trees, will use palm tree rachis from agricultural waste combined with Japanese expertise. Al Faheem emphasized that the design reflects the UAE's heritage, focusing on conservation and coexistence with the environment, aiming to demonstrate how traditional values can empower contemporary and future innovations.
The World Expo 2025, themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, will run from April 13 to October 13. It will explore sub-themes like ‘Saving Lives’, ‘Empowering Lives’, and ‘Connecting Lives’. The UAE pavilion will be located in the ‘Empowering Lives’ zone, near the host Japan Pavilion.
Organizers stated that the UAE pavilion will offer multi-sensory experiences and storytelling to address global challenges. It will share stories and innovations from across the UAE that respond to the Expo’s core theme.
Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of State, highlighted the significance of the Expo in enhancing UAE-Japan collaboration. She noted,
"Since 1971, the UAE has been steadfast in its commitment to global solutions, and we remain dedicated to shaping a sustainable future for generations to come."
The pavilion aims to bring together people and innovations, fostering a sustainable future through shared knowledge and cultural exchange.
