Air travel between the UAE and Saudi Arabia is increasing, especially for Umrah rituals during Ramadan. During the last ten days of Ramadan, the demand for flights peaks.
In March, the number of flights between the UAE and Saudi Arabia increased by 13.3% compared to February. There were about 383 weekly flights in March, up from around 338 in February.
Flydubai increased its flights to Saudi Arabia by 40%, from 93 weekly flights in February to 130 in March, covering various destinations in the Kingdom.
Etihad Airways also increased its flights by over 22.2% from 63 flights in February to 77 in March, covering cities like Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh.
Emirates had approximately 67 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia in March, covering cities like Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, and Riyadh. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operated about 21 weekly flights to Dammam and Madinah.
Air Arabia had around 88 weekly flights covering various cities in Saudi Arabia.
During Ramadan and the Umrah season, Etihad Airways transported around 45,000 passengers to Saudi Arabia. Jeddah was the top choice for travelers, with flights achieving a high occupancy rate of over 95%.
Most travelers were from the UAE, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Etihad Airways operates flights to three destinations in Saudi Arabia using different aircraft.
Starting from March 15th, Etihad Airways has permanently increased its services to Jeddah and Riyadh, with a total of 77 weekly flights.
