Multiple sources suggest the addition of several new features for iPhone 16. We take a look at these leaks and rumors ahead of the expected launch in September.

Apple traditionally unveils new iPhone models in September. Assuming the same for the iPhone 16, we are just two months away from the launch, and the excitement is building up with numerous leaks and rumors about the device's new features.

The iPhone 16 is rumored to feature a power-efficient display, enhanced zoom lenses, an action button, and several new AI-powered features.

Larger Displays

According to multiple sources, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will have larger displays, measuring 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively. This increase in size will make both models taller and wider than their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, with slimmer bezels. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are expected to maintain the current 6.1 and 6.7-inch displays.

New Buttons

Reports suggest that Apple will introduce two new buttons on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. One will replace the Mute/Switch button, and the other is an entirely new addition.

The Action button, previously exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models, will now be included across all iPhone 16 models. This button can be customized to perform various functions based on user preferences.

A new Capture Button, reportedly located on the same side as the power button, will respond to pressure and touch. Users will be able to zoom in and out by swiping on the button, among other features. This button will be available on all four iPhone 16 models.

Camera and Zoom

Earlier this year, AppleInsider published photos of 3D-printed dummy models of the rumored iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, revealing a vertical camera stack for the iPhone 16 instead of the current diagonal arrangement.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that both Pro models will feature a tetraprism lens, allowing for 5x optical zoom, a feature previously exclusive to the Pro Max model.

New Colors

Rumors about the colors of the upcoming iPhone 16 models are mixed. Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the blue color option of the iPhone 15 Pro would be discontinued and replaced with a new rose model for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. He also suggested that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would be available in white, replacing the yellow model.

Enhanced Processors

Performance-wise, all four iPhone 16 models are rumored to feature next-generation Apple chips. According to Jeff Pu, an executive analyst for Haitong International Securities, all models will have an A18 series chip, with the Pro models getting an A18 Bionic Pro and the base models receiving a regular A18.

Increased AI Integration

AI is a significant focus this year, and Apple is integrating AI into its flagship devices. At the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, which includes tools like ChatGPT for proofreading and rewriting text in different tones, along with new Siri support features.

Expected Release Date

Apple typically holds its iPhone event in September, and we expect the same for the iPhone 16. Following the announcement, the release date is usually about a week and a half later, so we can anticipate the iPhone 16 to go on sale at the end of September.
