Yango Group has added powerbank rentals to its SuperApp in the UAE, letting users charge their phones without downloading another application or entering new payment details.
The service, called Yango Power, runs in partnership with Ray, the powerbank-sharing operator active across the country. Existing Yango users can scan a station's QR code and pay through their Yango account, then pick up a powerbank in seconds.
The integration draws on Ray's network of 600 stations across the UAE. Many sit in places people already visit every day, including restaurants, shopping venues and fitness centres. Users can return the powerbank at any compatible station once they are done.
Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, said running out of battery can disrupt everything from getting around the city to paying and communicating. He described Yango Power as a natural extension of a platform where transport, navigation, delivery and now power work together seamlessly.
Roman Averianov, CPO and co-founder of Ray, said the company's platform allows partners to connect their existing apps directly to its stations, which made the integration straightforward.
Yango Power joins the group's existing regional services, including ride-hailing, delivery, public transport schedules, car rental and navigation. Ray's in-house IT platform already supports powerbank-sharing services under several brands across nine countries.
The timing reflects a growing category. According to Data Insights Reports, the global powerbank-sharing market is valued at close to $4 billion and is growing at about 14.7% annually. Adoption in the GCC is still at an early stage, leaving room for further growth. Yango Group plans to extend the service to other markets where it operates.
Yango Power is available now through the latest version of the Yango app in the UAE.
