Zayed Military Hospital, 1st military medical institution in the UAE to award UAE Board
The National Institute for Health Specialties has approved Zayed Military Hospital as the first medical institution to award the UAE Board.
The move reflects the advanced level of continuing medical education programmes offered by the hospital, as well as its efforts to raise the level of medical competencies in accordance with the latest international medical practices.
This accreditation provides Zayed Military Hospital with the opportunity to enable intern doctors to obtain the UAE Board certificates, thereby immediately acceding to Consultant Degree.
The Medical Services Corps Command at the Ministry of Defence celebrated the occasion with a documentary showing the stages of institutional accreditation for the Medical Services Corps, followed by the speeches of officials, then by honoring those who contributed to Zayed Military Hospital’s institutional accreditation to award the UAE Board.
Staff Brigadier General Dr. Sarhan Al Neyadi, Commander of the Medical Services Corps, said that Zayed Military Hospital's obtaining this accreditation is new evidence of the leading position the hospital has attained, and the great confidence in the military health services sector to provide the best medical and therapeutic services in accordance with the best international practices.
He pointed out that Zayed Military Hospital today is an academic hospital in which specialised programme s in the medical services corps are accredited. These include internal medicine programmes, family medicine programme, and emergency programme, which enable trainees to obtain a consultant degree directly after the approval of the Department of Health, in line with approved international programmes.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Al Houqani, Secretary-General of the National Institute of Medical Specialties, said,
"We are honored today to deliver the institutional accreditation certificate for Zayed Military Hospital from the National Institute for Health Specialties to award the UAE Board."
He pointed out that the National Institute for Health Specialties had formed more than twenty scientific committees of experts and consultants in various medical specialties to formulate standards for corporate and programme accreditation according to international best practices in medical education.
