Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has secured first place in 13 key performance indicators across its operations, reinforcing the emirate's reputation for measuring excellence through impact rather than scale.

The utility recorded the world's lowest customer minutes lost for electricity, averaging just 49 seconds per customer each year. Its electricity transmission and distribution network losses stood at 2 percent, also a global low, while water network losses reached 4.4 percent. Power system reliability exceeded 99.99 percent.

These results stem from smart technologies such as the Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System, which isolates faulty feeders and restores service without human intervention.

DEWA's Managing Director and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, linked the achievements to the Dubai-It initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, describing it as proof that Dubai's development remains a continuous journey rather than a fixed destination.

A key example is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, now the largest single-site solar facility in the world under the independent power producer model. Its capacity has reached 3,860 megawatts and is set to exceed 8,000 megawatts by 2030, well above the original 5,000 megawatt target.

Clean energy currently makes up more than 21.5 percent of Dubai's energy mix, with plans to raise that share to 36 percent by 2030 as part of a broader goal of achieving fully clean energy production by 2050.

Other milestones include the Hatta Hydroelectric Power Plant, the first of its kind in the GCC, and a AED 7 billion Smart Grid Strategy running through 2035. DEWA's AI assistant Rammas has also handled more than 13 million customer inquiries since launching in 2017.

Together, these achievements position DEWA as a global benchmark for utility performance and a driver of Dubai's sustainable future.
