Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has opened talks with Spanish engineering giant Ayesa on a potential strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the emirate's clean energy and infrastructure goals.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's MD and CEO, met with Jose Luis Manzanares Abasolo, CEO of Ayesa Engineering, to discuss opportunities for collaboration across engineering, technology and infrastructure development. The talks form part of DEWA's broader push to advance Dubai's sustainability vision and energy transition roadmap.

During the meeting, Al Tayer presented an overview of DEWA's renewable energy initiatives, which continue to upgrade the emirate's electricity and water networks in line with international standards. He pointed to the authority's deep expertise across the full energy and water value chain, spanning generation, transmission and project management.

Al Tayer also stressed DEWA's drive to build world-class utility infrastructure grounded in global best practices. He noted the authority's growing use of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, technologies he said are central to keeping Dubai at the forefront of sustainable energy and smart city development.

For his part, Manzanares outlined Ayesa's international standing, citing its position among the world's top 50 engineering firms and its strength in IT services and digital transformation. He said these capabilities align closely with DEWA's strategic direction, pointing to potential synergies between the two organisations.

While no formal agreement was announced, the meeting signals DEWA's continued interest in partnering with leading global engineering firms as it works to future-proof Dubai's utility infrastructure. The discussions reflect a wider trend of Dubai authorities seeking international expertise to support the emirate's ambitious sustainability and digital transformation goals.
