DMCC will host the tenth edition of the UAE AeroPress Championship from November 12 to 14 at Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, bringing together 252 competitors from across the seven emirates in one of the region’s leading specialty coffee competitions.
Organised by Dubai-based specialty coffee company Mokha 1450 in conjunction with the World AeroPress Championships, the three-day event runs under the theme “United and Strong”, celebrating the country’s diverse and growing coffee community.
The championship features two regional rounds followed by a national final, with 36 competitors representing each emirate. The first round on November 12 brings together 144 competitors from Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. The second round on November 13 features 108 competitors from Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah.
The top three from each emirate advance to the national final on November 14, where 21 finalists will compete for the UAE title and the chance to represent the country at the World AeroPress Championship in Mexico City on December 6.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said the event reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening the UAE’s position as a coffee hub. He noted that more than two billion cups of coffee are enjoyed every day and that the industry is valued at an estimated USD 200 billion a year.
Garfield Kerr, CEO of Mokha 1450, said the championship is the largest coffee competition in the world by number of competitors. He added that applications this year far outstrip capacity.
The championship is free and open to the public, with competitions starting at 6pm each evening.
Through its Coffee Centre, DMCC supports the industry with services spanning processing, roasting, storage and logistics, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a gateway for the global coffee trade.
