Dubai will host Global Quantum X (GQX), a new event uniting the quantum technology and cybersecurity sectors, from May 4 to 6, 2027, at Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai.
The event is organised by GITEX in strategic partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council, with the announcement made on the sidelines of GISEC Global.
GQX will bring together governments, national cybersecurity authorities, quantum technology leaders, research institutions, enterprise adopters and investors to examine emerging quantum applications and the security frameworks needed to support them. Sessions will cover quantum computing, quantum-secured communications and next-generation sensing, alongside post-quantum security, cryptographic transition, critical infrastructure protection and national quantum readiness.
The event arrives as enterprise investment in quantum technology accelerates. McKinsey's Quantum Technology Monitor 2026 found that a third of global enterprises now spend more than $10 million annually on quantum initiatives, with the technology expected to generate $2.7 trillion in global economic value over the next decade.
Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, head of the UAE Cyber Security Council, described the shift to the post-quantum era as one of the most significant challenges facing the sector, calling for strong international cooperation. He said GQX would bring quantum-safe migration, sovereign cryptographic capability and national readiness testing to a global platform, helping governments and enterprises close the gap between existing defences and future threats.
Trixie LohMirmand, executive vice president of inD, organiser of GISEC Global and GQX, said quantum computing has moved beyond scientific promise to become a commercial strategy, developing faster than many enterprises anticipated. She added that the same computing power poised to advance medicine, manufacturing and finance could also expose existing encryption to risk, making closer ties between quantum technology and cybersecurity increasingly important.
