Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has launched a suite of AI-driven smart dashboards at its Bus Operations Control Centre, marking a significant upgrade in how the emirate monitors and manages its public bus network in real time.

Developed jointly by RTA's Public Transport Agency and its Artificial Intelligence Centre, the system runs on RTA's Dataiku platform and brings a data-driven approach to day-to-day bus operations across Dubai.

The dashboards cover a range of operational functions, including early-departure performance tracking, AI-based trip cancellation prediction, rapid response coordination during metro disruptions, and optimisation of short-turning operations. All tools are now embedded in the Control Centre's daily workflows.

Early results point to measurable improvements. Early departures have dropped by more than 68%, response times during metro service disruptions have improved through the immediate redeployment of buses, and automated alert systems have strengthened customer communication. Performance levels are reported to be in line with global benchmarks.

The initiative also carries an environmental dimension. Sustainability dashboards targeting engine idling and bus parking management have contributed to a reduction of over 13,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

RTA says the deployment reflects a broader shift towards an enterprise AI model, with scalable solutions supporting Dubai's positioning as a global leader in smart city infrastructure and AI-powered public transport.
