Emirates SkyCargo has inaugurated a weekly dedicated freighter route to Toronto Pearson Airport, adding 100 tons of export capacity per week and deepening air cargo ties between Canada and the UAE.

The new service, flight EK9943, departs Dubai World Central every Friday at 07:10 local time, stopping at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol before arriving at Toronto Pearson at 16:55 local time. The return flight, EK9944, departs Toronto at 19:15 on Fridays, landing in Dubai by 16:15 on Saturdays.

The Amsterdam stopover adds a strategic dimension to the route, enabling main deck cargo movement of pharmaceuticals, perishables and manufactured goods between the EU and Canada — connecting two of Canada's largest trading partners on a single itinerary.

Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, highlighted the commercial rationale behind the launch, noting that Canadian exports to the UAE grew 24% year on year between 2023 and 2024. The new freighter route builds on that momentum, supplementing existing bellyhold capacity on Emirates passenger flights between Dubai and Toronto.

Key commodities expected to move on the route include pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, electronics and general cargo — sectors where speed and temperature control are critical.

Kurush Minocher, Chief Commercial Officer at Toronto Pearson, described the launch as a confidence vote in the airport's role as Canada's largest air cargo hub, which handles roughly 45% of the country's total air freight.

Emirates SkyCargo has transported over 11,000 tons of export cargo from Canada since 2023 and has served the Toronto market since Emirates launched passenger flights in 2007. The carrier has taken delivery of four new Boeing 777 freighters since March 2026, with six more expected later this year.
